ABOUT S-DSC
Using your own cells
to support hair growth
S-DSC hair regenerative medicine isolates DSC (dermal sheath cup) cells from scalp tissue harvested from a non-balding area such as the back of the head, cultures them and injects them into areas of thinning hair.
An option for male-pattern (AGA) and female-pattern (FAGA) hair loss, it is an autologous cell treatment using your own cells.
* Effects vary. Treatment results are not guaranteed.
FEATURES
Features of S-DSC
Unlike conventional oral or topical treatments, this approach focuses on the cells that support hair growth.
Uses your own cells
DSC cells are harvested and cultured from your own scalp tissue. This is an autologous cell treatment.
For men’s and women’s hair loss
Adults diagnosed with male-pattern or female-pattern hair loss who meet the eligibility criteria may receive treatment.
A different approach from daily medication
Treatment involves scalp tissue collection, cell culture and cell injections. The number and interval of injections are decided with the doctor.
Treatment under Japan’s Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine
S-DSC hair regenerative medicine is classified as Class II regenerative medicine under Japan’s Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine. Treatment is performed under statutory review, notification and other procedures.
MECHANISM
Why use DSC cells?
DSC cells are located near dermal papilla (DP) cells involved in hair growth. Supplementing thinning areas with cultured DSC cells is thought to support the growth of thicker, longer hair.
Scalp tissue collection
Scalp tissue containing healthy follicles is collected from an area such as the back of the head.
DSC cell culture
DSC cells are isolated from the tissue, cultured and quality-checked at a cell-processing facility.
Injection into thinning areas
Your cultured DSC cells are injected into the scalp according to the treatment plan.
EXPECTED EFFECT
Potential benefits
Improved hair thickness & volume
By acting on cells involved in hair growth, the treatment is expected to help thinning hairs grow thicker and longer, improving visible volume.
Improved scalp environment
DSC cell activity may help improve the scalp environment and support improvement in thinning hair.
* Expected effects vary; not all patients achieve the same results.
TREATMENT FLOW
From initial consultation to treatment
The process proceeds from consultation and tests to tissue collection, cell culture and S-DSC injections.
Initial consultation & tests
The doctor examines your condition and explains treatment and precautions. After you understand the information and sign the consent form, the required blood tests are performed.
- Tests check for hepatitis B and C, HIV, adult T-cell leukemia, syphilis and other conditions.
- The doctor determines eligibility from the examination and test results.
Scalp tissue collection
A piece of scalp tissue approximately 5mm in diameter is collected from the back of the head under local anesthesia. The site is closed with approximately two to three stitches.
- Stitches are removed according to the condition of the collection site.
- Hair washing is generally possible from the following day. Follow the doctor’s instructions.
DSC cell culture & quality checks
DSC cells are isolated from the collected tissue and cultured at a cell-processing facility. Culture and quality checks take approximately two months.
S-DSC injections
Cultured DSC cells are injected into areas of concern using a dedicated injector. Anesthesia or cooling is used as needed to reduce pain.
Additional injections & follow-up
Treatment area, injection volume, number and intervals are decided with the doctor. Progress is checked regularly after treatment.

FAQ
FAQ
Does the treatment hurt?
Scalp tissue collection and cell injections may cause pain. Local anesthesia is used for collection; anesthesia, cooling or other pain-relief measures are also used for injections as needed.
Can it be combined with my current AGA or FAGA treatment?
Combination with finasteride, minoxidil or other treatments may be possible. Tell the doctor about all medicines and treatments you currently use.
How long does cell culture take?
Our clinic estimates approximately two months for cell culture and quality checks after tissue collection. Timing may vary depending on culture conditions.
Can both men and women receive treatment?
Adults diagnosed with male-pattern or female-pattern hair loss who meet the eligibility criteria may receive treatment. The doctor makes the final assessment from examination and test results.
How many injections are needed?
The area, volume, number and intervals depend on your hair-loss condition and treatment plan. They are decided with the doctor at consultation.
